What do you guys think of this amp?

Just got a cracking deal on it so too good to refuse.
Been on the lookout for an ENGL Screamer though.
so might consider a trade/part ex  :P

Why cant i post in the seconds out? Grrrrrrrr.

I'd choose  the ENGL over the TSL any day. The TSL's I've played with sounded horrid, very buzzy and no balls to them. The ENGL is very versatile and quite a loud little bugger.

You can't post in the seconds out yet because you don't have over 100 posts.

You have to ask a board admin to give you permission to post in the Seconds out forum (I did any way).

Very much a jack of all trades, master of none.

Its a pretty mediocre amp, IMO. I had a 602 that I got to be good by changing the valves for JJs and the speakers for G12Ts. Until then it was wooly and very 2 dimensional, even at high volumes.

If youre prepared to do similarly then go for it.

But understand youre never going to get it to be a metal amp, and its also never going to sound like a classic marshal.

If you're going to get a JCM2000 then get a DSL over a TSL. They sound much better.

I know someone selling a screamer combo, I was going to buy it myself but he wants £600 for it and some bloke at sound control changed the transformer or something like that for some reason, personally I think it's worth £500 tops but he's not in a rush to sell it

that was my big problem with the tsl any time i tried it, it sounded too modern for the classic stuff, and not modern enough for the modern stuff... :)

if you have access to a decent eq that can make a huge difference, I suggest giving that a try

I was thinking about selling my Stiletto because it was not "big" sounding enough, on a whim I bought an MXR 10 band eq to run in the loop, boosted a couple of the low end sliders and I was shocked at how much it changed the sound

If you could ask and see if hes interested then that would be much apreciated!
