Exactly.  What are you going to replace on a 400 quid strat?  Pickups, electronics, machine heads maybe...

In my case, pickups, electronics, machine heads (for locking ones), straplocks, probably the scratchplate and backplate, pickup covers and knobs, quite possibly the bridge or saddles... I'm often only left with the bridge and neck original.   :oops:

As you say, it all adds up!  :lol:

I think it's better to build a guitar from scratch, unless you like the guitar and don't plan to change anything of it. I prefer to be specific on my guitars. I'm not so keen on Fender contours on the guitar, I prefer the top of a Stratocaster to be more, rigid. Like Tom Anderson or Suhr ones.
