will a p90 fit in my superstrat
« on: December 02, 2008, 05:29:16 PM »
hi there,

my friend just purchased some bareknuckle p90s and i think im love

trouble is i cant afford a 56 custom shop reissue :(

my main axe, which i adore for its playability, is a 2006 charvel NOS 1humbucker with a floyd rose...

I was wondering would a p90 or any other single coil pickups fit it (i think it might be a trembucker)

many thanks

Welcome aboard!  :D

Get a Mississippi Queen - it's a P-90 in a humbucker-sized cover.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

the mississippi queen is a humbucker sized P90, so it will fit in where your humbucker was.  if you don't want the chrome or nickel cover look, i'm pretty sure you can order them with black covers.  i have a set myself and can attest that they do sound great!

Yep, MQ - very nice.

I understand they're equivalent to the hottest BKP P90s - if you wanted less power and more P90-ness get in touch with BKP themselves, they also do a "Manhattan" which is a slightly less hot P90 type in a humbucker size.

And welcome to the forum :D

The Missisipi Queen is indeed a great pickup; probably my favourite so far.  When bought as a pair, they are ( I read here somewhere )  somewhere between a P91 on the neck and a P92 in the bridge. They can be as mellow or as powerful as you want ,  by simply changing the pickup height, E.Q. - or ( mostly ) your picking style.

A real sweet, fat and pure tone monster ... 8)
