Recommend me some Strat pickups
« on: October 04, 2005, 06:44:21 PM »
Hey guys.

After installing the Crawler/Irish Tour/Irish Tour set into my USA Standard Strat, it dawned on me that the ITs absolutely slay the Duncan Antiquities I have in my other Strat  :?

So now I need ya to recommend me some Strat pickusp to replace them with :D

The body is Ash and Mahogany and it has a maple neck and fingerboard.

I play mainly classic rock and blues influenced stuff :)

Thanx for your opinions :)

Craig

Apaches - I put them in my maple neck 57 and they sound great.  All the old strat tones are there, Hendrix, SRV, Rory Gallagher.  The IT's have a lot more push, but the Apaches have the tone.  If you want something a bit less 'Straty', the Slowhands might be good for you too, they have a bit more mid in them.
So many pickups, so little time

I'd endorse what Phil has said. The Apache's are , to me, pure Strat.
Send three and fourpence we're going to a dance
BKP's: Apache, Country Boy, Slowhands.

That is pretty cool looking body on that strat, very cool 2 tone sorta thing, can't advise on pickups though.

I've not played any of the other single coils but the Apaches in my US Strat sound brilliant and they're fantastically versatile - they suit pretty much anything I play with them and for blues and classic rock they're spot on.

I adore a good Single coil sound, so the more 'Stratty' the better :D
