I'm seriously considering them

A lesser known ( but great ) example of Gibson through a clean Fender. There are two amps on stage - and only one a blackface Twin (?) - but the tone is what I always think of as "Gibson through Fender".

Excellent ! I have a Fender Twin that sounds like a 'kitty hawk' ... ( does this add value ? ).  :)

Sounds about right, but as much as I would love to get my hands on a Dumble - $25,000 seems a bit beyond my budget. ( If I ever got the cash, I would be knocking on the door of Ceriatone / Martamp for a 'joint venture' clone though ).

A lot of guys I know consider the Gibson guitar/Fender amp combination as perfect.Of course, like all things, it is a matter of personal taste but I do think it is a great sound-a Les Paul through a Bassman or Twin-very nice indeed.

+1

i don't know about perfect (depends on what tone i'm after), but i like it a lot. :)

When I was looking for an amp last year I put my LP with Emeralds through a Fender HRDX in a small music shop.

The tones were awesome - both clean and distorted. The only issue with the HRDX that I had is that it's loud as Hell - even at 1 on the master volume and I couldn't get a 'house level' out of it without losing the awesome tone I was talking about.

I ended up getting a Peavey Classic 50 212, which is a different beast altogether.

Now, if you were wanting to use it live, I'd say go for it. It's also known as an amp that accepts pedals well, apparently.
