I play NWOBHM style music in my band, and I enjoy playing stuff like van halen, iron maiden, dokken, ozzy when I am not playing in my band.

I needed some new pickups for my Ibanez prestige RG and Tim recommended the Painkillers. I ordered these, but then I made the mistake of playing my guitar teachers RG with VHII's and it kicked so much ass.

Am I going to regret cancelling the painkillers and going with the VHII's?

If you liked the other guitar with VHIIs, then I'm sure you'll be happy!

Just save up for a set of Painkillers for a different guitar!

the VHIIs are nice pickups, but for the stuff you mentioned I'd have immediately thought Painkillers too.

I might reorder the painkillers. I will decide tomorrow. I hate being so indecisive.

I dunno, PKs are a bit brootal for stuff like that. I thought VHIIs were one of the NWOBHM pikcups of choice? I havent played them, but have seen recommendations for them for halen and iron maiden

when I think of Painkillers I think of Priest and therefore NWOBHM but that's the flaw in my thinking right there - the Painkillers are for Priest's later 'thrash' tone and not so much their earlier British Steel era stuff (afaik).

I'm sure you'd be happy with either the PKs or VHIIs depending on whether you want more grunt (PKs) or a more vintagey pickup that can also scream (VHII).

The VH2's are the best pickups i've ever, ever had.

And it was in a rubbish guitar, too. It sounded amazing.

Stick with it.
