Relates to the heads, and you may need to find out what they did (whether they just let them warm up for a LONG time the first time, or if it's a valve..), but all is not necessarily lost yet, JDC!

The whole product range has had faults.

Mine had a strange cutting out problem and a buzzing/zapping noise that happened when I was pumping to much bass though it.

I returned it to the shop and they contacted blackstar and got their tech to repair it with some parts from blackstar.

Works fine now, and I am very happy when i play it!

I checked everything, I'm not sure if the speaker is plugged into the right ohm rating but even if it wasn't it would still make noise right?

it sounds good through the headphone out, it does take a good 5 mins to warm up at least

I'm thinking of asking for a refund and just getting a valvetronix xl or a peavey vypyr instead (not tried the peavey) but I can't make my mind up

what would you guys do?

I had problems with a 200W Randall 2x12 combo, which I decided to get a refund for after it had been back for fixing twice, so I guess there's the answer to what I'd do. I ended up with my 5150-II, and frankly I should have saved up for that straight away instead of getting something in the mean time (although it's not a home amp, and yours is, so this doesn't really apply for you!).

They all need time to warm on the first go, seriously. My local shop got them in and was going to send them back because they thought they were broke. Don't worry about it, just leave it on standby for 20 minutes or so, it'll work eventually.

Mine is fine now, warms up like any old valve amp, the warm up time gets less and less each time.

That is weird. What on earth have they done to cause that effect?

Mine did that the very first time I powered it up. Went to the pub, by the time I got back it worked perfectly and has done since. It was odd and has never re-occurred.

I'm gonna get rid of my 30Watt XL. Can't say I'm too fond of it, but then again no digital modelling amp has so far pleased me.
