I've been using Dean Markey SIgnatures for a while now. I really like them...

Q for everybody though - I was talking to a buddy of mine a week ago and he was saying that the sintage style pure nickel strings sound better then modern strings. Any truth in that? Just curious...

Whether it's of any use, but I really like Ernie Ball's Hybrid Slinky's. They're .009 to .046 gauge, basically the first 3 strings are from a 9 set, the bottom 3 are from a 10 set. I use Db/E# tuning (half step down), and they're fine.

I get them from http://www.stringbusters.com/, they have a shed load of different strings at much lower prices than the shops, and better deals for bulk purchases.

BKP's: Black Dog set, Emerald set, & Crawler set.

I have used a lot of strings though the years.  My favourites used to be the original Fenders in the 70's and early 80's (before the bullets).  The new Fenders are not the same strings as the old ones (despite the 'Original' name!).  I used to run a music shop in Bingley and we started to sell Vinci Strings.  I used those for many years and liked them a lot, but then they got harder to find, so I changed to D'Addarios.  I then tried Scalar (these are now Snake Oil), which I really liked, but they are expensive (they are original forumla nickel).  Their bass strings are the best I ever used .

John Pearse strings are very good, but hard to find.

I have also tried Dr Duck's, but I prefer the D'Addarios.

At this point I buy the D'Addario bulk sets (25 sets for $60).

I know lots of people love them, but I was never fond of Ernie Balls, I always found them really bright for the first couple of days and then dull after that.

I have that problem, and I seem to break a lot more  EB's too.

I usually use D'Addarios, but I just got some Everly's that I am going to try within a couple of weeks.
