Painkiller + Holy Diver on maple block?
« on: January 29, 2009, 05:16:02 PM »
hello,

how would a Painkiller (bridge) and Holy Diver (neck) sound in a maple neck-through guitar?  (with alder body wings).

the guitar is a Ran Invader (Flying V) with ebony fretboard and Schaller Floyd tremolo.

I play all kinds of old-school metal.......Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica, Exodus, Testament, Candlemass, Judas Priest, Dokken, Anthrax, Kreator, Skid Row, Loudness, King Diamond, Venom, et al.

or would the Miracle Man (bridge) and Cold Sweat (neck) be a better combo for this kind of music?

many thanks  :)

Antag

Fantastic - I have a PK bridge/CS neck in my Jackson KV2 & a Holy Diver calibrated set in my Jackson RR1T.

The PK bridge gives you plenty of power, searing harmonics, ultra-tight defined response & great midrange "chunk".
The HD neck has a really sparkly, clean & clear sound - IMHO the best neck clean tone money can buy.

IMHO, definitely not - the MM doesn't have enough midrange "grunt" in that kind of guitar (although the CS neck is great).  It would work really well in a mahogany guitar, but that's not what you've got...
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)
