The should I? shouldn't I? questions!
« on: March 13, 2009, 02:41:20 PM »
HI everyone
Ok I'm sure you have all been there were you want to but you think you shouldn't

Ok so I really want another VOS Les Paul I already have an ever growing collection of Les Paul's now (I'm starting to think that maybe I have a compulsive disorder or something) but I really love the Les Paul's, so I have a 1968 VOS custom that I love to bit's her name is Betty, and I have just come across a 1958 VOS though that I really like but £2400 is allot of money considering I've just finished paying off the credit card for the 68.
My point is should I buy her and forget the 59? Or wait and save up and find the perfect 59 that I’ve yet to find?

I've only played the 59 VOS guitars so far and have yet to really get to grips with the 58 and have a test I quite like big fret boards and nice meaty necks on guitars it's a plain top 58 but I'm not that bothered about that so I'm after some opinions on the 58 really.

Thanks everyone!

i have a 58 les paul and it is by far my favourite guitar i own or have played. the tone that comes from it is amazing!
I'm a person who always wanted thin necks but i tried one of these and fell in love with the big necks. i tried a few 59s and didnt like them as much. and they didnt sound as good to my ears. Thats just my personal preference though.

if you really want a 58 i'd try Coda in Stevenage. they had a good 6 or 7 when i went down and they left me to myself trying them out to find my favourite. They're pretty decent at giving you a discount to walk out with it aswell.
Was a long way to travel but when i was spending that kind of money I thought it was worth the trip.

Plus they've got a shop in Luton aswell which isnt very far from there and they had some in when i went too. Seemed like Stevenage was the better shop though.

Hope that helps.
