Torpedo,yeah!
« on: March 16, 2009, 03:21:25 AM »
A small French company has launched an interesting new product for guitarists/bassists:the Torpedo VB-101 by TwoNotes. The idea is to be able to play your tube amp at any level, cranked  8)or not, without any problem for your neighbours or your ears!Basically,it's a sophisticated speaker/cab & mic simulator but it's connected into the speaker output from your tube amp.In the studio, you can use it with a PC,the software is a remote control. You can chose the speakers configuration (4x12,1x12 etc.) and the mic (many options like SM57,AKG424,Neumann etc.)+mic's position. There are also some mastering tools (comp, exp,eq etc.).It's also designed to be used on stage (2U rack),you just have to be connected to the PA.The main idea was to keep the tube amp's sound,"grain" and all his characteristics..it looks like they achieved that goal.I didn't try it myself, though. But if you Google it,you will see some videos testing it.(They used 192 Khz ad-da converters.)Could be interesting...

So it's a posh version of a Palmer? Good idea though to use Impulses, if you can load your own I think it'll be quite popular but won't replace re-amping.
