my recto sounds good when its turned up. it has a JJ gold pin in V1 & V5 and average JJ 12ax7's in 2,3,4. and EL34's and GZ34 recto tubes. its sounds a lot different to how it did stock. I recorded with the stock dual rec and used a TS808 reissue and it sounded a touch brighter, like you say, that little boost infront brought out a nice but subtle difference.

i think for when i record, i'm gonna get a Bad Monkey maybe? i see rave reviews on those, and they are cheap, not sure id use it live. I try to keep the amount of pedals i use down a lot, just because they tend to get completely trashed no matter where i try to hide them on stage. a boost would probably be REALLY good with the 800.

I used to hate mesa cabs with V30's, then i played one on tour in the US and liked it. i was using a 5150 while i was there, then i used a VHT 4x12 for one or two dates of that tour.

pedals im currently running are a turbo tuner, and dimebag sig crybaby, and a DD-3 delay. the delay took a lot of considering before the purchase and then it was a long time before i started taking it out live. there are so many clean boosts out there i wouldnt know where to start. my amps definetly don't sound bad as they are.

I have a set of RYs that I've been through some tweaking before I was happy. What I found is that from all BKPs I own, they are tacky to get right in terms of string distance. The RYs need to be a bit further away to really shine, but then they make an amazing rock pickup!
