Right, I have to make some decisions and want a few opinions (and I am gonna mail Tim about this aswell).
I have an ash thru-neck tele with a Warpig in the bridge and a mahogany explorer with a Nailbomb in the bridge. I was very happy with them, but they have both seemed a bit uncontrollable on stage (through a Diezel cranked right up), lots of feedback, etc. And they have alot of cutting high end that I often want to dial out with my amp.
So then I just got a Black Dog for the bridge of a Les Paul and have been blown away by it. Just as much gain but without the feeling of it being on the edge of screaming all the time, and with more mid tone and less harsh (not the best word because I wouldn't say any BKP was harsh) top end.
So now I'm thinking of changing the pickups in the other two guitars. I don't really want to go for two more black dogs because I want more variation than that, so what do you think I should go for?
I was thinking maybe another Dog for the ash tele, and maybe a crawler for the explorer. But would a crawler still be too hot for me? Maybe an underwound crawler? Then I thought about going full vintage and having a mule in the tele? But that might be too "light"?
Anyway, all opinions greatly appreciated?
