The number one question: Which pickups would you recommend for me?

M'kay. I play a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser, which if you do not know, is a mahogany body with a set mahogany neck, quilted maple top, and rosewood fingerboard. It comes stock with EMG 81/89TW, at least mine did. I find that they are too sterile, and am in the market for some new pickups. I had considered buying Seymour Duncan Blackouts, but then I was recommended these by a local musician.

My style? I'd call it metal-ish. I've been told it has some grunge qualities to it. I like doing cleans every so often, but the bulk of my music rests in C-D Standard.

I was told by Tim that the Painkillers would suit me, but I'm not sure, so I came to you fine people.

What do you think would suit me?

Well, I was thinking maybe a Painkiller for the Bridge position, but a Cold Sweat for the neck position?

Is that a good combination? The painkiller would be perfect for the bridge, but the neck pickup is what's making me go back and forth.

I love my cold sweat's i have a calibrated set you might like them as well they dont have the big mid hump the painkillers have but there just as clear slighlty less agressive and less output.
Still ceramic amazinginess though!

Hmmm. The Painkiller, I want that for a bridge for sure. So, the Cold Sweats have less mids, less aggressive, etc?

What about the Nailbomb for the neck? Or just another Painkiller. I'm clueless.

Well i was talking about the bridge, The coldsweat neck is alinco its my favorite neck pickup, only thing i know about the painkiller neck is that its the only ceramic neck but i will say the calibrated sets are perfect.

HI,

I would trust Tim on this one.  Cold Sweat neck pickup can be quite bright sounding and with maple top maybe it will be just a tad too bright.  From my experience balanced sets are quite often the best way to go.
So I would have to say get a calibrated set of painkillers.

Quick question on international buying. I'm buying from the USA, so...How much would that cost me in USD? The shop says 170 Euro for open/190 for Covered, but like, I can't find any reliable sources for an exchange rate.

Last I checked, when you order from the BKP shop online, it's been something around 1.5x the GBP price, minus 15%. The covered Holydiver bridge that I just ordered (which was £99) came up to $142 with shipping, but my credit card company probably charges a fee for dealing with the exchange rate. The minus 15% is because we're ordering from outside of the country, and all shop prices include that 15%, which is a tax that you don't pay if you're getting your pup delivered outside of the country.

So yeah, the exchange from dollars to pounds has been something like $1.40-50 to £1
