Problems with my Piledriver... shorted?
« on: October 06, 2009, 11:44:20 AM »
Hey everyone,

I finally picked up the Telecaster for a while. I just got back to A'dam in July and didn't play it much.
I thought the bridge position sounded off. The neck was WAY louder and yet screwed all the way down while the PD was screwed all the way up. It was also a little thin.

I took the wiring apart last night and re-did it with the original HW1 bridge pickup.
I get a much beefier tone on the bridge position and the mixed positions now make a lot more sense.

I tried to measure the PD with a multimeter but it didn't give me any reading at all. It did give me a sound while it was in, but right now no reading. I get no continuity reading between the wires nor between the solder blobs on the pickup.

Anybody can think of what's up with it? Unfortunately I'd installed it at a time I was quite busy so I didn't notice it much before, or I had so little experience with Teles anyway I wouldn't really have thought it weird. I think I bought it in early May or late April? Can't remember.

Get in touch with Tim and the boys. I had a holydiver that sounded similar when it arrived, sent it back to the lads and they retouched up the solder joints and it came back perfect.

If you trust your wiring then it's probably an internal problem. Give BKP a ring!
