could someone compare and contrast C/A5 warpigs and holy divers?

i'm looking at these three options for my union jack steinberger. the painkiller had too much attack, and the rebel yell literally no bass.

holy diver is a default option for rebel yell with more low end, but i have one of those in my V90, and I wonder about other options, hence the pigs. another data point is i have miracle men in my other berger, and they work well.

which has more bass response?

which has the peak-iest treble / attack? is it more than a painkiller or miracle man?

how is are the mid characters different?

From what I can remember of the A-Pig I had, it's like a beefier and thicker HD.......

i was leaning towards an A5 warpig twinfan.. thats helpful.

i'll wait for a couple more responses and call tim, it would be nice to get the union jack steinberger back and running quickish

(though the rebel yell is quite nice and crunchy in it, but completely lacking any sort of low-end)

Sorry for the thread hijack gwEm, but I was curious if the RY's lack of bass in the 'berger was due to the lack of mass and/or the material that it's made from?  Was contemplating a RY for my build project, but I don't want anything that's going to sound thin in the bass frquencies.....

the body is hard maple, it has little bass resonance. the rebel yell also doesn't have much low end - it needs to be fitted into something like a les paul, with a big chunk of mahogany

Come on mate... I remember you tried my A5 Warpig loaded Ibanez 570 and had a blast.

The A5 sound absolutely right for the application you describe.

Yikes!  Thanks for the heads up gwEm.......the guitar I'm building is a solid flamed maple super strat.  Might have shed more than a few tears had I picked up the Rebel Yells and they sounded wimpy simply because of a bad wood/pickup combo.  Back to the drawing board......

you're right Dave, lets face it - A5 Warpig is what I want.

i just spoke to Tim on the phone, quite a long chat actually. he was definitely for the Holy Diver, and I can see why after the discussion. but i have gone for the a5 warpig anyway - tim reckons it will work well, although might be a bit different to what I want - he explained how close the holy diver and painkiller are, and thought the holy diver would be a good substitute - warmer, sweeter with less attack. he did acknowledge that the warpigs are massive blast to play in a basswood or poplar superstrat.

100% flame maple?! heavy beast! try a miracle man in that i reckon.

this surprises me a lot. i never saw this closeness, and mind that at the moment i've got those sets in two ibanez S.
of course Tim knows how he makes his pickups and wether they're similar or not, but i'm still very surprised.

to go back to topic i think you'll love the Warpig! heavy and grinding with smooth highs (if you want a peak in higher region you should try the ceramic version) but definitely not dark at all.
