SH1 Neck with MM Bridge workable?
« on: June 20, 2009, 12:20:48 PM »
Hi,

Sorry if this is a silly question, but would a SH1N neck and Miracle Man Bridge work in a Alder/Maple neck Charvel San Dimas?

Happy with the MM sound, just wondering if putting it in this guitar would be a mistake.

Cheers

SH1 is the 59 isn't it?

I had this setup in a Steinberger for a while. They balance in terms of volume, but you'll never switch to that 59 - difference in tonal quality is noticable.

If you already have the pickup - stick it in and try it, as you'd have nothing to lose and you'll learn something firsthand into the bargain.

Seymour pickups aren't bad  at all - just that the BKPs sound extra special

huh... sorry, but no

the sh1n couldn't even match the duncan custom in my guitar
sounded dull, low, way too scooped, no matter how I tweaked the height
my guitar has a reallly loud tone in the neck position and the 59 was the only pickup that sounded like that (out of other 6 that didn't)

if you still like your SH1 then you need to experiment this pairing especially if people here confirm the volume balance won't be too much of a problem.

I know we already debate on this pickup in another thread, but it always surprise me to see how much painfull was your experience of the SH1. I never had such an aversion for this pup. some other Di Marzio and Duncan upset me much more than this one...
