What tuning will the guitar be in. I use a CS in my Ibanez for B standard and it definately works well for metalcore type stuff. Would work even better in mahogany. Now in standard tuning it may be a little bright. I would recommend the Holy Diver. It is pretty tight and very organic and open sounding. Very versatile pickup. I am running one in my Horus and love it.

It seems to me that, as you already have an AlNiCo Warpig, and you want something more open, dynamic and complex, that a ceramic pickup is not the way forward. You'll get better dynamics and versatility from a lower output pickup, so staying in the AlNiCo magnet range, that would be Nailbomb or down to the VH range, so pickups like the Black Dog, VHII and so on. I think it would be a mistake to get a ceramic pickup. I find my Black Dog very open, although that's in a totally different guitar. Have you asked Tim for his thoughts? That's what I would do.

I think a VH or Black Dog would cause a huge drop on sustain, compression in such a skinny guitar
I think the rebel yell has enough dynamics and bite
The RY is definitely a good call, but I disagree about a 'huge' drop in sustain. Also the OP specifically wanted something more open, ie drop in compression! With that said, a drop in compression from a Warpig still leaves rather a lot of room :)

Of all the ceramic pickups, I think the HD call is probably the best, but I still question whether that's really what is being asked for...

Drop-B Tuning. What Ibanez do you own? Not eventually an S-Series one?

Btw. the MASTER of BKP told me to pick an A5 Nailbomb!
