the best way to learn the history of Queen?

So.........

My Ipod, died, got new ipod, and thus started to sort my music collection....when I final and properly started listening through the discography of Queen and let me say I am floored!  I certainly understand why their considered as one of the greatest of all time so I'm curious does anyone know any good books or dvd's where I can learn more about the band? I know I could've just pulled an amazon.com search but I'm curious to see if the board can point me in the right way, keep yourself alive!

I recently watched "Classic Albums: Queen - The Making of a Night at the Opera" on BT Vision, I'm sure it's available somewhere in DVD form. It was really interesting, focusing mostly on that one album but goes over their back story as well.

I have seen better documentaries on Queen but can't remember what they were called.

There are loads of "rockumentaries" from MTV around the time of the Mercury tribute concert.
I've got them on VHS at my Mum's back in Liverpool. Sadly I have no VHS player.

My main love was what they did between 1973 and 1981

The making of Night at the opera is cool - you can get a doublepack with the album included as well

Live they were superb...ignore official live DVDs after 1982 though and get a few of the bootleg ones from earlier tours

Japan 1979 was awesome, as is rainbow theatre 1974 etc etc

i have A Night At The Opera on DVD-Audio.  i really enjoyed the surround mix of the album, although many fans seemed quite upset by it.  the hi-res stereo version is the original mix, and sounds wonderful.

Brian also shows touches of Hendrix and Clapton obsessions
His tremolo bar work is way ahead of its time for 1973

There's some classy songs in their early days that never get played.
It's late and Spread your wings had some great tones
