Scored an Ibanez S 7420
« on: September 28, 2009, 10:24:51 PM »
... and now I need some pickups for it!

Made in 1999, mahagony body with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard.
I play through a Marshall JVM 410h and I want this 7 String for Nevermore and Unearth kinda music and also the stuff from the new Trivium record Shogun. Now all those bands use EMG 707 alnico pickups and I am tempted to go for them. SAVE ME FROM MY HERESY!

C-Bomb 7s!!! They would fit for sure!

With a cold sweat neck or a nailbomb neck?

What do you want from the neck?

For an all out metal guitar, it should be the painkiller. For metal with good cleans, CS, for best balance between the 2 NB, MM and HD neck should also be on the radar, but I havent tried them yet.

Painkiller Neck for Metal? Sold!

I think I will go for a Painkiller Neck with the Ceramic-Nailbomb for the 7String and while I am on it I am going to buy a Cold Sweat Bridge/ Nailbomb Neck for my Les Paul with the Nailbomb bridge and Cold Sweat Neck so I can mix-match my sounds and figure out which combination suits my playing best...

Tim suggested a Painkiller set and that's what I am going for!

Will the new humbuckers fit in the S7420? The pickups are frontloaded and the cavity is pretty shallow...
Also how do I find out what pots I have installed? Check it with a Volt-Meter?
