Pickup for unique guitar: 12-string tuned to B
« on: November 01, 2009, 08:40:07 PM »
I'm looking to build a 12-string tuned down to B (25.5 scale) and I'm looking for the right bridge pickup (I'm not going to have a neck or middle).  I've had the Warpig (Mississippi Queen's too) for years and absolutely love it and that does great on my main guitar tuned down to B (a measly 6-string).  I need something that retains the clarity up to but the low's need to be tight and not over exaggerated but then again not too thin.  Because of the nature of the 12 I won't really have much palm muting...I need chords both clean, dirty and all points in between to ring clear but full.  Any guesses since I'm sure there aren't too many people with 12-strings in baritone tunings with extensive knowledge of Bare Knuckle pickups.

Cold sweat would be my choice, if the guitar isnt too bright.

I wasn't even thinking about that one...that might be really nice.  The guitar is going to be a bolt on neck, rosewood board on perhaps a wenge neck...still figuring out body wood options.  I worry though that I'll miss some of the sweetness of an AlNiCo.  Maybe another Warpig will have to do.

Nailbomb then.

You dont want to swamp the note seperation of the 12 with the compression of a pig.
