Mississippi Queens vs Cold Sweats: blues thing!
« on: February 16, 2009, 01:06:35 PM »
here's a simple blues tune (i love this stuff but i'm not a real bluesman so forgive me if it sounds a bit "scholastic")

left guitar is my dean caddy with a set of MQs (sweeeeet!), right guitar is my SG with a set of CSs, both played in all 3 switch positions, even if i can't remember where i used what...
amps are POD models (Fender Tweed Bassman for the clearest stuff and Marshall Plexi 45 for the more distorted parts)

drums are a simple loop programmed with reason. i love programming synths but actually i hate to do the drums, so there's no attempt to make them sound natural or dynamic...  :) i don't think you want to hear the full story, but i haven't got access to my bass at the moment, so i had to program the bassline as well...

Hiya Dheim,

Sorry I found this a bit late, but I thought it sounded good. To be more specific, I was much prefering the left hand M.Q. / Fender channel the best, ( although I would , wouldn't I ? ) - with the C.S. / Marshall sounding like it was coming in from a seperate hard Rock  ( as opposed to hot blues ) perspective.

I enjoyed the phrasing and playing on the left channel ;  another reason I prefered the clean channel was because apart from that lovely M.Q tone -  the phrasing / style / and dynamics of touch deserved hearing openly and clearly, not melting into a somewhat harder / more brittle generic overdrive 'thang'.

Just my opinion though, the one tonal 'negative'  declared in an attempt to enhance and defend the greater positives.

Nice one !   :)

thanks! ;) fender and marshall are more or less equally divided on both channels... the tune begins with both guitars played clean with neck pickup... the first right solo is through the clean channel, but the bridge CS breaks a lot more than the neck MQ... then it comes marshall sound on the left - and i love how bridge MQ sounds with some dirt on! - and finally a marshall sound with CS bridge, that was meant to sound a bit iommi oriented...
