OH GOD, you must think, ANOTHER hum/buzz topic. Alas, yes, tis so.
I've installed a new pair of (calibrated) painkillers in one of my new builds. But the hum is significantly more than in a guitar that I've built with the exact same specs (only with Seymour SH-6's). Let me emphasise that I have installed a ground wire to the bridge and have done some shielding (the electronics and pick up cavities are shielded with copper foil). The ground wire functions properly (I've tried the guitar with and without it installed and without it the hum is insane as was to be expected).
Now I haven't shielded everything 100%, there are still some minor gaps here and there. Normally this is no problem with my builds. This is the first time I've used Bare Knuckle pickups. I love the sound of them, much more than the Seymours I normally use for all my builds. But I've gotta turn up the noise gate a lot compared to when using my SDs.
If anyone cares, my set up:
*Guitar
*Mesa Boogie Pre-Amp
*Poweramp/cab emulation on the PC (like Voxengo) + gate, effects etc.
Does anyone have any tips/hints on how to best go about fixing this? Guitar electronics aren't my favourite bit of making a guitar, but no pickups no guitar, eh!
Thanks.
