First, it is the 4 conductor wiring. so we (me and my 21 year old cousin that plays guitar) followed the red/green/white wires, and wired them correctly according to the diagram included. but, it also said to solder the black and screen to ground.
now there is a screw in my cavity that has a little ring that can be soldered on. i figured that was the ground, so i solderedthem to that. then it said to solder a wire to the back of the pot, and the other side to the bridge. i assumed they ment the little soldering thing above the tremelo springs, so i soldered it there. then, we soldered the input jack on one side, and another wire onto the ground of the input jack (the other side).
but, we skipped one wire, the ground that is on the second tab down from the pushpull dot. we figured it wouldn't matter, and the wires wouldn't fit through the wholes, being 18 gauge. the one we skipped was under the bridge pickup, in the space where the pickup goes. it is the same screw thingy that is in ground one.
now, when plugged in, it produces no sound unless i'm touching the pickup, which baffled me. so, what did we do wrong? also keep in mind that we did all this without a mounting ring. we got one, and tried to put it on, but putting on the spring was extremly difficult, so we left one off. any help? i don't wanna spend money for a tech to do it, i want to learn myself. i bet if i could find a $%ing schematic for my guitar we wouldn't be having this problem. tomorrow, i will start over, but what did i do wrong, and how do i fix it? does it matter which wire is grounded to which ground?
My first time installing pickups, please help.
