cancelling an ebay auction
« on: December 16, 2009, 10:18:15 AM »
Morning all.

I have an ebay auction running and had a buy it now set but bids have been made and the buy it now got lost. If someone has made me an offer in a message could i stop the auction and sell to them or would the ebay police take me away?

cheers

Well - you are not supposed to be doing this but lots of people do. You can say it was lost/damaged or no longer for sale. Then accept the offer OUTSIDE eBay - you will have to pay the initial listing fees but no final value fees.

Also be cautious - it is one of the many scams that can be pulled on ebay sellers - operating outside of the ebay framework.
Make sure you get the money and it cant be taken back

I've done it and not had any problems but don't like doing it too much as there's nothing more annoying if you are bidding and the auction ends.

Problem is ebay charge so much in fees now so it's only right they miss out on some sales....
