lost and confused about pickups

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on a pickup for a epiphone flying V I recently brought. The tone I'm looking for is hard rock, metal, defo something thats loves pinch harmonics and is high output. I would love to reproduce the tones running wild (under jolly roger, port royal, pile of skulls) as well some heavier bands metallca, anthrax...

I have heard that becuase the flying V is such an odd shape some pickups don't work as expected. As much as I would love to buy all the BK pups I can only afford 1 or 2. I have heard the holydiver/micra man/ are good shouts. If you have a flying V I would very much appracpicate a reponse or even if you don't feel free to leave a responce

You want some Miracle Man Pickups!

Screaming Harmonics, High output, Metallica like, tight metal sound, will also perform great for harder rock (Runnig Wild is no problem for the MMs) and the most important thing of them all: They are great in Vs!!!

Me too, I still have MM in my Gibson V & haven't/wouldn't consider anything else.

On a large mahogany bodied guitar like a V or an Explorer you want either vintage spec alnico pickups or high output ceramic

So A Miracle Man set will work _even though you have a high output alnico in the neck
A cold sweat set will work too - although less hot than the Miracle Man

Finally you could have a Miracle Man bridge and a cold sweat neck if you favour a vintage neck sound with a hot bridge
I personally love this combo....and I love Flying Vs

(and yes a cermic Warpig would also work if you want to go that wild)

Thanks guys, you've been helpful. Methinks a miracle man (bridge) for sure, and either a cold swear or holydiver in the neck. A couple of you guys have flying Vs and I was wondering if any of you guys knows about which specifications I should get.

This is in terms of

spacing - 50, 53mm

leg - long (1/2"), short (1/4")

Here is how a 53mm Miracle Man lines up in my Gibson.  FWIW, This is one of my Les Pauls with a 50mm spaced bridge.

Short answer - they will probably both line up, though there are variances in the spacing of the slots on individual tunomatic bridges.  Measure the distance over the poles on your & decide which will fit.

IIRC, the long leg fits all my Gibsons & where the pickup sits very proud of the pickguard (or mouting ring if there is one) is probably the best choice.

the Miracle man bridge is just a perfect metal/rock pu In a vee.
Sreaming zakk harmonics.surgically tight bass and low mids and more than enough output.
The bottom end is huge but controlled on the mm .if I had to pick one album or song the mm sounds like it would be the black album.(think holier than thou)
I have another vee with a mule set and this sounds awesome for everything except metal.
Works wonders for classic rock though .......
