who does the artwork?

Are they decals or are each hand painted?

Dylan does all the artwork and inlay by hand. He's a very talented artist  :)

Not keen on alot of the finishes but the guitars themselves look awesome, it was fun watching the vid too.

Seems like he is pretty good at what he does, very multi talented, too.

But he's gonna start using BKPs to get really the most out of his creations tone wise.

I just finished watching his video, was interested the whole time through.  The guitars are of exceptional quality....I would be interested one day just having him paint up a strat for me....alas so many ideas so little money.

Yeah, the video is definitely a cool watch, shame about the audio/video quality degradation.

they look very tasty indeed - not really anything I'd play myself, but the quality seems top notch.

goes to show, the standard of work from UK custom guitar builders is very high and deserves to be supported.  I fully intend my next (serious) purchase to be a custom build (sadly, thats not likely to be any time soon as I'm always skint).

Its UG. What do you expect?

was just a misunderstanding, there have been a lot of advertising threads recently, and the mods just assumed this was another one. :)

Cheers Dave, the US thread is unlocked and the warning removed  :)

great news, glad i could help :)

Yes. Very much so. We have a lot of very, very talented builders doing some really cool things in the UK. Not much in the way of big brands, but our custom guys slay.

Agreed, we do have a wealth of excellence here, though I fear it's extremely difficult to make a living as a luthier at the moment.

I came across some pictures I hadn't seen before on facebook, I thought this inlay was particularly amazing (not so much the subject matter as the craftsmanship):

That inlay is pretty damn cool!
I want to do more inlay work but time pressure and running the operation here sometimes gets in the way
Last special one I did was this last year on "Frankie" - a guitar I first built in 1989/90 and recently made a new neck for.

But it's nowhere as complex as What Dylan has done - I take my hat off to him!

Yeah Jon, yours are impressively neat inlays too.
It would seem Dylan makes his inlays the visual centre-point of alot of his guitars, I've not seen many other luthiers that do that level of intricacy other than perhaps Ken Lawrence.

Yes - his inlays are great
They are not unlike Larry Robinson or Grit Laskin's style - although they have a more macabre theme

Here is some Grit Laskin
