Push/Pull or Push/Push Pots for an SG

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if push-pull or push-push pots work on a SG standard?
I am pretty much ready to order my bkp's and will get the 500k pots and caps.  So I started reading the everythingsg.com board and it seems PP pots won't fit in the control cavity.  It is not deep enough.
From what i read I should get a mini toggle and try my best to line it up so that all I have to do is drill a hole in the pickguard and not the actual body.  
I find it hard to believe that this issue was not resolved and a pot has not been designed for this application.  thanks

I shouldn't see a problem with fitting either Push/Push or Push/Pull pots. The only thing is that the Push/Push pots are a bit expensive, and you could also activate them accidentally, whereas the Push/Pull pots can't be activated by accident. The other plus side to Push/Pull pots is that you can see which position the pickup's in, I looked into it a while ago, and was shown a Push/Push, and you couldn't tell when it was on or not (even though you could hear the difference).

IMO FWIW is to go for push/pull's.

The small pot push/pull switches are not quite as deep as the full size pots.  They might fit, but they aren't as good quality wise.  If you use them for the tone pots, then it might not be so bad (this is from someone who has the tone pots bypassed in a couple of guitars!).

Be verry careful - we had a problem in the week trying it with an old Gibson L6 guitar that was too thin for push pull pots and had to use a mini switch.

i'm sure there was a thread on ESG with a link to a site with short-shaft push/pulls that do fit an SG. but i can't seem to find it now.

thing is, if you send back your warranty card to BK, you'll get a free mini-toggle you could use. (unless it's changed since i got mine, i dunno) anyroad, you could replace one of the tones with a miniswitch, then you don't need to drill any holes, plus it'd probably be simpler to put back to stock incase you want to sell the guitar at some future date.

Unfortunately I got to start from the beginning saving money.  Money is like fire in my hands and I must spend it or I will burn.
I bought the sony psp, so back to the drawing board.....lol

I was the guy asking about P/Ps on ESG... and... it ain't a problem at all. I've used normal Allparts push/push pots and everything works fine... and you don't even hit em by accident... I don't know how some people play guitar, but the way I do it rather happens that I TURN the pots then I hit them from the front.... think about it. AND with the pots I use one can EASILY see if they're enabled or disabled cos they simply stay in one position if you push it once and go back up/down if you pushedit twice... simple as that. the advantage of push pushs is that you just have to know em quick and don't have to pull it.... with sweaty hands for example on hot stages...

I'll get another pair of them for my SG when I've got the Crawler set and then I will get some JimmyPage wiring action going on.

I'd second the comment about push/push. I've got lots and you can easily see if they are up or down and they are a snap to operate even with flying beer drops over everything. push pulls are great if you just want to slap them down, but pulling them up is something else and there usually isn't time!
