Pickups for Suhr Modern?
« on: January 19, 2010, 04:53:32 PM »
Alright these stock Aldrich pickups are pretty good.. but they aren't for me. The bridge is brilliantly nuanced and thick sounding, but doesn't have the output I am looking for and is kind of lacking in the lows. The neck is way, way too cold.. really transparent sounding. Its a really weird kind of almost-single coil sound I really don't like.

I had a set of BKPs on order for another guitar, except now I'm going to leave that one alone and put the new pickups in the Modern instead. Its an alder body, maple neck, maple fretboard, Floyd bridge. I play metal through an Engl Invader 100.

The other guitar was getting Painkillers but as I understand it those would be too bright for this guitar, so maybe Holydivers or War Pigs are more what I need. This guitar has a bit of spank on the pick attack which is great, but I want to de-emphasize it a little.

I don't think the diver would sound hotter than the aldrich
maybe fatter, but not hotter

maybe the nailbomb or warpig
