I think this might hold some fascination for Gwem but I don't see much future for the product as it plays to such a kitsch market.

Doesn't change the fact it looks like good fun, though.

Interesting ... but ultimately rubbishy and gimmicky. I mean, close your eyes and listen and it just sounds horrible. And I didn't see any string bends there, looks like the designers didn't think of that!

the string bending issue always comes up on these kinda things.   personally i dont see it as a guitar replacement but a potentially fun instrument to play in its own right, so i dont mind the fact you cant bend strings...  also since its mainly a controller sound quality will also be determined elsewhere.

but i imagine the string bending thing could be emulated to a certain degree, after all, there is a big controller on the face of the guitar that i imagine could probably be programmed to do it with a slide of the finger... a different approach for a different instrument

it struck me as the kinda thing you would have seen on cheap sci-fi programs years ago - which may be why i like the look of it ;)

Strange you should say that, I've been playing with one of those Roland VG8 things recently and I was thinking exactly  the same thing about that. It doesn't make traditional "guitar" noises but it can make interesting and usable sounds. I suppose it's a mistake to say "that doesn't sound like a guitar", what we should be saying is "is that a good sound that I can use somewhere?"

So yeah, maybe if you think of it as a complementary technology rather than a replacement it makes more sense.

I'd still want to bend strings on it though. Sorry.

Ive got a casio dg20 ages ago, and as stated, rubbish to play like a guitar but fun to generally f**k round on. no bending ability and the tension is rubbish and you cant mute strings because there is sensors saying the string has been played but your not fretting it so it just rings open
best thing is that i can use it to play other instruments thru midi using knowledge from guitar
