Inside Info On New Chili Peppers Album

A friend I know online recently won the chance at his music academy to jam with Chad Smith. Although he didn't end up actually getting to jam with him, he did take the opportunity to clear up some of the confusion regarding the release date of the new album. Here's what he had to say:

Good News On Peppers New Record

First i never got to play  , but i met him! On the Subject on the New album:-

-Its fininshed and now being mixed!
-It is Out march 2006
-A follow up album early 2007 (from the same recording session)
-Decending smile [sic: Desecration Smile] (sorry i cant remember what its called) and 21st Century are on the album.

Chad played us one of the new songs which is currently called 'charlie' and i bootleged it so ill put that up as soon as i can but it might be a while because i dont have the equipment i needto do with me (its real bad quality as well because it was blasted through a PA so chad could play along. But i can say its $%&#ing godd!!! BSSM fans will be happy if this song is to go by, similar style but with cool harmonys like in BTW, it sounds alot more live, not loads pf layers like BTW

Tour!

They plan to start touring the US in april and the UK in June 2006, sorry he didnt mention anything else about other countrys to us.

Besides that he just talked about that they record to a 2 inch tape and its all live takes (not cut and pasted in pro tools ect) which surprised me.

want too know anything more please ask, hope this was helpful. IM HAPPY!!!!!!!!

Ditto. If the band takes more cocaine, XTC and speed, they'll play faster.

RHCP was great when they were wild.

exactly! I wouldn't necessarily wish drug addiction upon them again, but hell...'there are no monks in my band'. That was the stuff!

You're right. Too bad they need that stuff really. I can get my high from playing (and a couple of beers) alone.

There have been a lot of drug rumours flying around the production of this album, actually. But its only speculation of course. Although, its interesting to note that during the recording of 'By The Way', Anthony Kiedis relapsed on heroin. He mentioned it in his 'Scar Tissue' book. So maybe its not about the drugs, I guess your perspective changes when you reach middle age  :?

if RHCP took as many drugs now as they did 10/15 years ago, there would be no RHCP left. mellow RHCP is better than rhcp in four coffins surely...

Red Hot Chili Peppers plan tour
Dates likely in 2006
Red Hot Chili Peppers are putting together tour plans for 2006.

It is expected the band will hit the road next year in support of their currently untitled new album which is also due next year, the follow-up to 2002's 'By The Way'.

Having been in the studio since March this year, a band source told NME.COM that dates are planned for April.

Their last UK tour was in 2004, which included a residency at Hyde Park in London, shows which were recorded for a live album.
