What value Capacitors for an Epi LP Special II?
« on: November 22, 2005, 01:16:16 PM »
Hey guys.

I'm re-wiring some guitars for a local school, and was wondering if you could tell me what value capacitors to use on an Epi LP Special II

They don't have to be great quality 1s (I've been told to re-wire the guitars for as cheap  as possible).

Thanx for any info.

I have a budget of about £50 for parts for BOTH guitars, so Bks are definitely out of the question!

I'm probably gonna rewire my Epi sometime, didnt think it was worthy of a new thread after reading this. Is it .47 uhf (or whatever the unit is) that is needed? Cheers

afaik, it depends how extreme you want to tone control to be. so, if you use a low value cap, the effect of the tone control will be subtler (grammer anyone?) than if you use a higher value cap.

Thanx for the posts guys :)

I'm think I'm going to use a .074 mfd capacitor for the tone control :)

Do you mean .047? That's what Gibson usually uses, and is what is generally used with humbuckers.

Yeah, it was a typo!

I'm actually using a .022 mfd on the guitar :)
