Holiday Cottages In Wales
« on: March 05, 2010, 08:44:29 AM »
I'm thinking of an Easter break with the family in Pembrokshire - anyone have any recommendations?  I'm thinking cottages, maybe coastal...

That brings back memories, all my childhood holidays were in north Wales. Mainly because my dad was a skinflint.

This one especially is burned into my memory. I might go back there with a guitar and write my difficult second album.

Hmm, Welsh holiday. Burned into your memory you say. Choice words in deed...

Tata tŷ ha!

On a serious note there's plenty of coast to choose from down there and lots of small villages, you'll probably fine hundreds of choices of where to say, be it b&b, catered, self-catering. Remember Milford Haven is quite industrialised because of the refineries, but once out of the town it's much more rural. As for things to do, you can always pop over to visit the monks on Caldey island http://www.caldey-island.co.uk/ it's quite peaceful there if it's not pissing it down.

For the kids - depending on how old they are - you have Oakwood theme park (http://www.oakwoodthemepark.co.uk), Folly farm (http://www.folly-farm.co.uk/). There are also plenty of castles and coastal walks to follow.

I booked a Powells cottage in Cornwall which was really nice.  Maybe try their website.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I had a few holidays as a kid at a place called Walwyns Castle, which is an ancient hill fort. Its near Broadhaven, which is a nice part of the coast in Pembrokeshire.

The cottages are still in use Called Rosemoor
