regarding the tonerider pickups in the CVs... I came across a thread on TDPRI where apparently they're made in the same factory as the toneriders, but they might be made to slightly different specs? Not sure, and it is second-hand info, but the thread is there if you do a search... claimed to be info from the guy running the factory or something like that.

Yeah, I saw that thread too... was quite interesting in one of those "not much else to do except prowl around the forums reading about stuff that might affect me one day..." moments

(And my quote button's working fine! You must be in the cheap seats...)

I've got a day off today so I'm off skulking around the toon to look at Thinlines and Classic Vibes if anyone has any :0)

Yeah I read that thread too, sounds interesting that the model no's are so almost the same. TBH another reason the CV's are worth more than they go for if they have pickups albeit mass produced one of a good level of quality in them.

Whoops purchased one of these on the whim today.

Luckily  a mate Nick (Don't take the piss out of his name he's a cracking nice guy) Parsons was in the store so I got a bit extra discount  :D

Too busy to get to play properly tonight but a quik twang says it's a lot more than £199 worth of guitar. The Finish and build are indeed excellent. Just need to shed the gay rubber band strings and get some 10-52's on a set it up tomorrow.

Nice guitar. Have been reading some rave reviews about the Squier classic vibe range.

How good are they compared to mexican teles generally speaking?

Well from a trying in the shop perspective, I couldn't see any reason whatsoever to pay more for a MIM Fender badged Tele over this one. Yeah there was more choice of style and colours and option on the MIM. However if the CV colour and style floats ya boat it's a lot fo guitar for the money.

The Pine body is very resonant and now that I've strung it with my fave 10-52 strings and tweaked the truss rod/action/intonation it's absolutely superb. The Hardware is much better than the price would have you believe too.

Nice, I really like the CV's, I tried a 50's Strat a while ago and it was more 'stratty' than many more expensive models.

If they had fat neck I'd probably allready have the strat and Tele but the necks are too thin for me, I like allparts FAT, Warmoth Boatneck and the Fender Nocaster necks....

Congrats! They are good guitars, I used to play in a band with another guitarist who used a CV Tele which he took to rehearsals and used at gigs too. They are great value for money.
BKP's own: Irish Tours, Mule(b), Black Dog(b)
BKP's had: Riff Raffs, Nailbombs

Yep, congrats :D

I'm like tomjackson, sadly the necks are too thin for me... but the ones I've tried have been awesome. And then when you look at the price tag as well, it's just stunning.

I guess this is where being short fingered helps me, a thinner neck suits me quite well.
