Wanting to replace Strat Plus Lace Pickups
« on: June 07, 2010, 11:05:01 PM »
Hi there guys

Im wanting to replace these pickups, but NOT to something that would resemble a "classic Strat" sound.
Im open to SC or HB.

More specifically speaking, Im looking for some pick ups that would make my guitar cut through in my three piece rock band, something with high string definition (due to the riffing) and high output, but preferably not a noisy pickup.
If possible, something also that would retain some of the crunchy mids strats can achieve, but with more "umpf" and sustain.

Three bands Id mention that might help you guys understand what on earth im looking for would be RATM, Tool and CKY

So to surmise, similar to a strat, but not! lol

Terrible explanation I know, all help and information about my possibilities would be greatly appreciated

Thanks everyone

So your strat presumably has a pickguard for SSS at the moment, but is routed HSS? Would be helpful to have a pic or an idea of what you've got to work with.

On the sound front, I'm thinking vintage hot range up towards holy diver would be good for you for the bridge. No ideas for neck/middle (if these are required?) though.
