Humbucker for Fender Fat Strat (needs mids)
« on: June 14, 2010, 06:18:42 PM »
Need replacement pickup for a Fender Fat Strat with single humbucker.  The pickup is a Duncan Invader, and my only problem with this pickup is that it seems to have a hole in the mids.  I like a pickup to have a nice crunch to it, but not be harsh.  I play modern high gain detuned metal so I need tight but deep bass and lots of mid definition under gain.  My other guitar has a Duncan JB in it and that is along the lines of what I am aiming for.  I can produce pics/clips as needed.

Get the Cpig. its similar in general sound. Just LOTS more mids. A lot more brutal grind in it. And its not as magnetic. So you can even level it decently to the strings

Thanks for the advice.  I've been recommended the C-Pig here before actually.  Although Tim himself recommended the Painkiller so I'm not sure.  I tune to Bb standard and/or drop Ab, if that changes things.

It's a close call between the painkiller and c-pig, I reckon. Tim knows his pickups, though! I think you'd find either would suit you really well :)

Alright, so Warpig for the bridge.  Now what's a nice neck pickup to compliment?  Don't want something too bright, but it shouldn't be dark either because the guitar is a baritone and too dark would be mud.  Should have a nice bluesy fatness to it.  To compliment the brutality of the Pig.
