Peterson Stroboflip Vs Korg pitchblack
« on: June 29, 2010, 06:11:18 PM »
i have and regularly use both - so after reading some suggestions that the korg could be innaccurate i decided to do the most boring youtube shootout ever ;)

but it may be of use to some so here it is:

i thing the korg comes out pretty well in this, especially considering the price difference between the two tuners

Yep.  That was dull!

;)

Personally, I've never noticed any inaccuracies with my Pitchblack.  Also, I suspect that my, um, "style" of playing would mask any tuner inaccuracies with playing inaccuracies!

Which is exactly how I've always felt about things like the Buzz Feiten tuning system.  I'm sure my hamfistedness would render any precision-tuning utterly redundant.

I'm thinking about getting rid of my PitchBlack, actually--not because of tuning, but due to some weird noise; I run it from the 'tuner out' on my Ernie Ball JR Volume pedal, so i can tune either with the output still active, or rock the volume pedal back, and have silent tuning-- the output of the pitchblack isn't actually connected, just the input. However, when the tuner is on, there is some noise that is fed from the input of the unit, back to the output of the volume pedal, and then down the main output which feeds the amp... a bit weird, and quite annoying once you've noticed it! I'm going to try a buffer between the volume pedal and the tuner to see if that helps first, as I do like the pitchblack. Wez, nice to see that the pitchblack holds well compared with a strobe! Boring video, but interesting at the same time ;)

I got a TC Electronics Polytune a couple of months back and its great - true bypass and very fast to track.  I liked that it has a metal enclosure too and feels very sturdy - some of the other tuners in the same price bracket didn't seem nearly as robust.
