Laney Lionheart L20H standby switch
« on: July 12, 2010, 08:59:35 PM »
Anyone know a source in the UK for a standby switch for my Lionheart.  It's a mini DPDT toggle, but has a approx. 12mm diameter threaded part and a 12mm lever which is quite thick.  I could use a regular mini toggle but the hole's too big and the lever won't match the other 2 on the amp.

Should have taken a picture before I put it back together, but here's the outside.

Don't really want to run the amp without fixing, as it sounds like its arcing on one of the poles for 4-5 seconds after switching, this results in crackling coming from the speaker regardless of volumes.  Looking at a schematic the switch is connected directly to power transformer, and shuts off power to output transformer and the power tube's plates.  Not surprised of the noise, with the voltage being a little intermittent for a few seconds.

Dont Laney have a 5 year warranty?

I'd have thought as a minimum they would supply you with one themselves

Yeah, speak to Laney.

It's going back 25 years or so, but I broke the spindles on three of the tone pots on my gigging amp - my fault, no question. I went to my shop, to see about how we'd get it fixed, he phoned Laney to enquire about parts and they sent them return post, with knobs, free of charge.

I've heard that all down through the years they've maintained a high level of service - give 'em a go, see what they say.

I emailed Laney and they told me to contact a local dealer, we dont supply parts direct.

I've managed to get hold of a larger switch which should fit, the lever looks to be the same length.
