VHII into Charvel San Dimas 2-H?
« on: July 14, 2010, 11:09:12 PM »
Hi everyone,

I just bought a new Charvel San Dimas Style 2 (Tele style with 2 humbuckers) and I'm having the Seymour Duncan '59 and JB removed for a VHII in the bridge and a sustainer humbucker in the neck.

The JB and '59 are are tried and tested combination and whilst I have no doubts about puting in the sustainer, I'm having second thoughts about the VHII. Perhaps I should leave the original bridge JB humbucker in place? After all, this is what the guitar was specced with...

Any thoughts as to how this modification may change my tone is much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Meenrod

VHII > JB

I could never get into the JB that came stock in my ESP. The sound in general was just lacking. Why anyone would have second thoughts about replacing a SD with a BKP is beyond me.

The only area of concern I'd have is that the VHII is lower output and eq'd quite differently to the JB so you might need to modify you gain/tone settings.

Awesome pickup though  PDT_003

Thanks guys, that makes me feel a bit better.

Adjusting gain settings is not an issue, obviously, so looks like I'm making the best choice.

I have a '59 and JB for sale if anyone is interested... not.
