Seeing as I never really use my Pearl any more I'm thinking of taking the pickups out of that and putting them in my SG since it's just an all round better guitar. The pickups in it are alright but sound a bit brash with not much life. Acoustically the guitar is quite bright but not thin sounding (and it's not thin plugged in either).
I'm thinking of getting the neck MQ overwound (if possible) to get a bit more output to match the Pig 90's gain a bit better, good idea or should I leave it as is?
I know you'll say "just try it" but it requires an entire re-wire as for some reason gibson decided to put a bloody pcb in there instead of normal pots. And I want to get the cover on the MQ changed to match the bridge pig 90, currently the neck is chrome and bridge aged nickel so it looks a bit weird!
I don't really want to lose the "SG-ness" that it has, but then again p90s seem quite popular in SGs anyway.
Cheers :)
