Hi!
I'm having a hard time choosing the right BKP pickup for metal. My guitar is an Ibanez RGA121 with mahogany body, maple top, maple/walnut neck, rosewood fingerboard, bolt on neck and no trem.
What I'm looking is a very articulate pickup with high treble and mids. Some bass as well but not at all like the Dimarzio Super Distortion which is exactly what I'm replacing. It just sounds to muddy when playing in D-standard I think. On my RGA tuned to Drop-D I have a Seymour Duncan Full Shred that I'm really happy with. I was thinking on getting a somewhat equal pickup to the Full Shred but with a liiiiiittle more bass, just little.
I play mostly trash, trivium and Lamb of God type of stuff. Some Disturbed as well, quite a lot actually. I want to be able to hear every note clearly when I play distorted chords and when I shred on the lower notes. Right now it's nearly impossible to get the sound I want with the Super Distortion... It needs to go!
Tim recommended the Cold Sweat or Nailbomb for me. It's not that i don't trust Tim hehe, but I like to make sure that I'm buying the right gear for the right sound. What would you recommend for me, the same perhaps?
The pickup is a replacement for the Dimarzio super distortion and will have to deal with D-standard and Drop-C.
Have a nice weekend!
