Hi, I'm new here so go easy on me xD
I've lurked on here for ages but I've realised it's definitely not a one-size-fits-all type thing, so I thought I would throw my hat in the ring and see if you guys could help me out!
I was just after a recommendation on a bridge pickup for my mahogany body fixed bridge RG, my main tone is the guitar into a modified Boss SD-1 straight into a Mesa Mark 3, running the gain on about 6 with the SD an about 25% drive. I'm after a bridge for this guitar, the stock V8's are absolutely woeful... that being said, nowhere near as bad as the infinity ones. I usually use a JB in these situations, it sounds good... but not great, the highs are shrill and thin and it just doesn't really have a tonal character that I like, I mean I used to be a huge fan but I think I've grown out of it.
Basically I play pretty much anything.. A lot of Hard rock & 80's hair themed stuff a bit, along with a bit of metallica and muse themed stuff in there, I also use my trusty BSIAB to get my Zep & more VH-esque tones, but I usually use my old tele & strat for those tones.
So basically I'm after a good mid-high output bridge humbucker... I've heard that the AlNiCo Nailbomb is excellent but I worry that it could sound a bit muddy and flubby in the low mids in a mahogany guitar with its tonal characteristics.
So I suppose I'm after "THAT" elusive tone, haha.
Thanks in advance guys!
