Humbucker or P90 for Tele neck
« on: August 24, 2010, 12:29:19 PM »
Hi

I got a Squire that I have been modding a bit.
Installed the bridge pickup from my Fender Tele (the vintage butterscotch/blackguard they produced about 1980). This guitar has a set of Don Mare's Nancy (Buchanan) pickups I am very pleased with.

Now I tried putting in a Epiphone neck humbucker, but it is far too dark and muddy.
I am thinking about installing a Bare Knuckle P90 instead. I would like a round, clear sound.
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Erik

I have a Slowhand in the neck of one of my tele's and it gives a great sound.  What about an MQ (or Manhattan), if it is cut for a humbucker.  Either will give you a great tone and both are straight drop ins.
So many pickups, so little time
