Post #2000 & NPAD: Antag goes modular
« on: September 23, 2010, 01:39:35 PM »
I've been really enjoying my home rig that I assembled earlier this year, but wanted to have a slightly bigger palette of sounds to choose from - in particular I wanted a few more high gain options.  Anyway, I got the SE preamp because the Egnater M4 that I wanted was prohibitively expensive but after snapping up some absolute bargains from ebay, various internet stores & users on another forum, I have supplemented the rig with the next best thing:

Randall RM4 modular preamp

Here she is, sat proudly atop my home rig:

Big congrats on the r4, but olsa the post #2000  :D

I'm dying for a modular amp myself, but haven't got the funds right now so I'll have to do some saving. And sometime next year Egnater will reintroduce their modular series to the European market. I'm looking forward to this.

Cool :D

I can see the point of modular amps - satisfies one of the things that modellors provide... but with real amps!! :D

But I tend to gravitate to one amp tone and then use the guitar(s) to vary it. I had a switchable amp for a while years ago, and I just couldn't get my head round balancing the thing for effective use in a live situation... but nowadays, if I had the space and ability to turn it up, I could probably be tempted to start messing....

And congrats on post 2000!!

This post is actually a gratuitous waffle from me in a drive to reach 3000!! (2998 at the moment - possibly wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned 2000) I'm wandering around now looking for threads that I can respond to in good faith.... I spose I could splatter a few +1s about, seems a bit of a cheat though...

Ideally it needs to be a NGD for a milestone like this... I've got the day off... mebbe I should go out and treat myself?!

Congrats :)

I struggle with the complexity of   Tele > Tubescreamer > Princeton Reverb  so admire anybody who can play and gig with a rig like that 8)

If anyone else is thinking of going down the Randall route - one of the guys on the Randall forum wrote to me today  offering me his rack mounted rig
Quote
I'm selling off my whole RM4 rig. Need to buy a van for the band, so need the cash. Any interest in a MINT RM4, and modules? I have:

JF UXL
Gigmods Ultra Lead
Gigmods Clean
Recto
Grail
Modern

Make me an offer, I'll willing to consider any reasonable offers before I put the lot on ebay.

PM me if any interest and I'll hook you both up
