What is the characteristic of this pickup? Is it smooth or punchy? Dark or bright? Thanks!

Its bright and biting.

Didn't like it at first, but have grown to appreciate it

Excellent, thanks for the replies. I've grown very fond of punchy, brighter neck pickups.  8)

I loved mine in my old SG, like gwEm says though it takes a little while to get used to it  :)

the Abraxas neck pickup is quite bright too and clear, no mud.  I can get it smoother like the Mule neck pickup by rolling down the tone about halfway.
