Guys, anyone played one of these?

Now, I'm not one to suffer GAS lightly, but this has piqued my interest a little...  They seem very cheap for what they are.

Surely a Vintage will suffice? But G&L are always.. something about them. Like the Commanche one however it's spelt.

I played one a few months go and really liked it. The only reasons I didn't buy it was that it was a little out of my budgetand I wanted humbuckers. If I was going for a strat I would have got it. I think it was the S500 anyway...

I've got a Legacy but never played a S-500 and to be honest I don't know what the difference is? My Legacy is top drawer build, finish and sound.

The difference between the Legacy and the S-500 is the pickups - that's pretty much it. The Legacy has Alnico V pickups and the S-500 has the G&L MFD pups which are ceramic.

G&L's are excellent guitars, especially for the relatively low price. The PTB tone controls are AWESOME (they're Passive Treble and Bass instead of just regular tone), the mini toggle allows for the combinations of B+N or all three pickups at the same time, the options available at really low prices are a huge bonus, too (locking tuners for $35 for example). And IMO the general quality of the guitars far exceeds that of Leo's more popular company.

Very nice guitars, but that kink in the headstock looks horrible.

I think the cheap Tribute-series give more bang for the bucks. They even use the US-pickups in them. Great guitars for no money.
