Mississippi queen in my PRS tremonti?
« on: November 08, 2010, 12:40:36 PM »
Hi guys, yet another pickup question  :D

I have a PRS Tremonti SE which i love (my first guitar). But of course, I find the pickups a little  lacking in the cleans department. I was wondering whether the Mississippi Queens would be a good fit, or should I go with the Mule set.  The Tremonti is a thin solid mahogany body with 22 frets.

I play ambient, coldplayish, U2 kind of stuff. Chimey cleans, nice and smooth when played with slide. When dirty, I would like good definition when playing chords in the higher registers.   But nothing to piercing and ice picky. Never really play the heavy stuff, bur i like a good AC/DC sound once in a while.

Mules and MQ's are different pickups, since the MQ is a P90 single coil. But why not a Mule in the bridge and a MQ for the neck?

The mule would certainly be a good choice for the bridge - it covers a lot of ground from nice clean rhythum and will easily do classic rock
PRS McCarty (BKP Mule set)
Fender USA Strat deluxe (Irish Tours)
Gibson Sg Standard
