Freeware Software for guitarists
« on: December 14, 2010, 06:50:55 AM »
I thought I'd share this damn great little program I've found which I've been using for the last week non-stop to practice and learn loads of songs/phrases I've struggled with...

It is based on Java - bug free (so far for me) - Does everything I could want out of a phrase trainer / transposer...

http://www.rinki.net/pekka/slowmp3/

"Slow MP3 is a musician's music player. It can slow down, transpose and transcribe songs on the fly. Need to learn a song in a different key from the original? No problem. Want to play a fast solo part over and over again, in half speed? Can do. Cannot identify a chord? Slow MP3 will show the notes to you"

I hope you find it useful.

The best bit is that it's FREE - I am a Yorkshireman after all

Are there any freebies you've found on your travels that you recommend?

This works real great. Unfortunately it doesn't support the iTunes format M4P. I purchased Amazing X Slowdowner some months ago and this one does support m4p, but it ain't free.

I can recommend TuxGuitar as a GuitarPro replacement, works great!

its quite simple, and not really a software, but I'm using this very often at the moment:
