Cover choices
« on: December 18, 2010, 12:42:01 AM »
So now I'm pretty sure of the pickups I want, I now come to the hardest part (for me): chosing what I want the pickups to look like!

So here is the guitar in question:

Now without the pick guard.

Aside from nickle or black/zebra open, what would go here? And does anyone have pictures of the more exotic covers in a simialr finnish?

Nothing weird.  I'd go for covers or some combination of black/cream/zebra.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

I'd say either chrome, to match the hardware or black/cream zebra.

What about both? ala Jimmy page mismatched nickel neck and zebra bridge.

Brushed nickel is particularly nice but it won't match your hardware.

Most of the more exotic options are nice but they've got to be paired with the right guitar or they just look out of place, and anything aged is has to match the hardware or just seems blatantly fake.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah, I thought the more "classic" options were probably best; I've always wanted some of the fancier ones, just never really had the guitar for them.

Oh, and instead of cluttering up the forum, I'll ask here:

Any ideas on leg lengthor this one? My Cort has short legs,s but I'd THINK this might need long ones.

The LP body is definitely deep enough for long legs, and will probably be routed that way.  But short legs will be fine too.  You can't really go wrong on this one.

I prefer short legs because the mounting springs get more compressed and the pickup wobbles less!

Cheers Philly, think I'll go for shorts then.
