hey all, new to this brand
« on: December 28, 2005, 01:13:19 PM »
i've not heard of this brand before, but they sound fabulous!
i'm going to be buying an epiphone gothic explorer, since it is the only explorer-bodied guitar available brand new at the local shop here on the west coast of canada, and within my price range.  i love the fit of that style of body
anyway it's mahogany with a set neck and stop tail tune-o-matic bridge, seats 2 'buckers
hunting thru all the audio clips is useless 'cause nobody will have a roland cube 30, traynor tube same model as the one down here at the shop or a vox valvetronix 30 watt at the exact settings i will have, plus an assortment of boss pedals at their disposal lol
so yea, my point... hahah... which pickups are crying out metal, mildly scooped to avoid fuzziness or foggy-sounding crud from some 80's bands or overtuned nu-metal stuff, but not enough to sound unbalanced, bottom like a slapbass, top like a dimebucker and presence like a human voice... very in-your-face, and out of ones face lol(pardon that retarded/ridiculous pun)
anyway sorry for the long post, have a good one all, and i hope everyone enjoyed their christmas!

Ooooh... I get first shot... ;)

I think either the Nailbomb or the Miracle Man should be in the right area that you're after. Check out some clips in the Player's section.
Bibble.
BKP's: Black Dog set, Emerald set, & Crawler set.

Welcome.

From your description, I'd say a Miracle Man.

However, Warpigs would look damn cool in a gothic explorer.
Check out some of the clips. The Miracle Man has a very tight bass and loads of precence and a little dip in the mids, typical 80's metal. The Warpig has huge bass, chugs like no other.

I'd have to agree with the above suggestions and go for the Miracle man, Its just the pickup you are describing!

lol i love it when people say "it's just the one" or something similar, makes things so simple for me  :D
well thanks for that folks, i'll go run some tests at the shop and see what they have, and double-check the duncan, dimarzio and emg guys for any "it's just the one"-type comments lol
thanks very much again, and happy holidays!

I've got Nailbombs in my PRS SE. They have a nice clean sound besides sounding nice in high-gain situtations (I think that is the reason why Tim recommended them to me). My next guitar is having Miracle Mans as they have a nice bass response to them - BKP have already sent them but they've gone directly to the company who is making my guitar. I've no experience of the Warpigs, but they look bloody amazing.

I have nail bombs in my sg and while I consider them the best pickups I've ever heard they're quite middy at times, from whta you have said I would go for the Miricle man.
Bare Knuckle Pickups:- Country Boy set, Mule Bridge, Stormy Monday Neck, Riff Raff set.
